While out for an early morning run before church, the three of us jokingly visited about gathering our girlfriends for a healthy jog around the park to kick off the New Year. We laughed about how as we get older our bodies are not the same and how we should call the event The Jiggle Butt Run. As we rounded the last corner of our run, we spotted a folded dollar bill on the side of the road. Fighting over who would pick it up first, we quickly discovered that it was actually a $100 bill. Without hesitation, we looked at each other and agreed, “Well, I guess we’re supposed to do this…”
We made some phone calls and invited some friends to join us. We used the $100 to organize the first run. The first year 46 ladies showed up for the inaugural event. We had so much fun we kept the tradition going. We never imagined that what began as a gathering of girl friends in a neighborhood park for a 3 Mile run would be the start of an incredible adventure.
Over the years we’ve watched The Jiggle Butt Run grow from 46 neighborhood girl friends to over 2,000 female runners, walkers and our first wheelchair participant. We have many kids who participate in the wiggle butt 1 mile run as well. Hundreds of family members come out to watch and support the runners.
As our event has grown, we established a 501c3 non-profit to act as a parent organization. Got2DreamBigg.org was established in 2009 to not only manage this event but other charity events that we envision for the future. The Arlington event continues to support Safehaven of Tarrant County. In 2012, we launched a second location for the JBR event in Nebraska. This inaugural event welcomed 150 female runners and supported a local Medical Center Foundation. The 2013 Jiggle Butt Run brought in truck loads of donations and we were able to present a check to Safe Haven for $20,000!
Beginning 2014, The Jiggle Butt Run will move to a new home! We are excited to grow at College Park Center on the Campus of University of Texas, Arlington.
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." (Colossians 3:23)
Join us as we celebrate our Jiggle and enjoy a morning of laughter and fitness with our girlfriends, mothers, daughters, sisters and new acquaintances.

5 years ago I was in the hospital with heart failure related to my pregnancy/birth of my son. They told me my heart may never be the same and that I may need a pace maker and that I would be on blood pressure meds the rest of my life. I was tired of meds, high blood pressure and always worrying about my heart, so I started running. My very first 5k was the jiggle butt. It was an emotional journey...I did it!!! Running has strengthen my heart and lowered my blood pressure. The jiggle butt is the run that gave me to drive to keep going!
The Jiggle Butt Run is one of my favorite runs of the year, and I never miss it - I even limped my way through it one year when I was injured. In fact, I usually sign up as soon as registration opens; last year I got an email telling me I was the first. The supportive environment is great, with runners and walkers of every level. And having the before-and-after activities inside, rather than out in the sometimes-subfreezing temperatures, is fantastic.
In my first Jiggle Butt Run I walked with a group of friends. We decided we were going to run to the finish line (about 100 yards)...I almost died!!!! I was soooo out of shape that I decided I was going to run the whole 5k the next year. Since then, I have run 6 official half marathons. Thank JBR for inspiring to run and live healthier!
I am only a walker but I had a blast and met some wonderful people on the "run"!!
I first experienced the Jiggle Butt Run in 2011. My two oldest children were involved in their school’s track club and we ran as many fun runs as we could that year, including the JBR. I was pregnant with my youngest, and not exactly a runner by nature, so I thoroughly expected to be shamed at the finish line (ha!). However, the atmosphere at the JBR was so welcoming, so encouraging, and so uplifting, that I promised myself (as I waddled across the finish line) that the 2012 Jiggle Butt would be my first 5K…and it was! I didn’t exactly make qualifying time for any marathon out there, but I ran my hardest and finished with a decent time on my chip. Since then, I’ve run two other 5Ks and am registered for my first 10K!
My kids (all four of them) have run both runs with me; they love the fun run as much as I loved both that and the 5K. The Jiggle Butt has all the necessary elements to be an incredible running/race experience: great course, unbeatable atmosphere, amazing cause…and of course, fantastic schwag and a cute shirt! We’ll all be there again this year, you can count on that!
A gathering of women without judgement is hard to find. The experience is one that is motivating, inspiring and a great start to the year. All shapes and sizes, all walks of life coming together to get out and move! It is one of my favorite walks/runs and my girlfriends and I look forward to it every year! (Did I mention you get a cool long sleeve shirt!?)
We love the Jiggle Butt Run, and it has become our post-holiday tradition. We save up our donations for the Women's Shelter all year and drop those off before we head out in the brisk January air. We use it as an opportunity to get caught up with the girls after the holidays and to walk off a few of those extra pounds we picked up. Of course we may blow the whole thing with breakfast burritos afterwards. We wouldn't miss it.
I did my first Jiggle Butt run back at River Legacy Park, seems like just a few years ago. I was in my late 40's and my coworkers talked me into it. I walked the entire course...very slowly...and still managed to be sick at the end from the exertion. It took me hours to recuperate! Now I'm 55 and I've participated in the Jiggle Butt Run every year since then! I've lost 30 pounds and not only do I run several 5Ks like the Jiggle Butt every year, I've also run a 10K! Yes, I run!! The Jiggle Butt may not turn you into a runner, but the camaraderie among women sweating together on the coldest day of the year (one year it was only 20 degrees!) is the most amazing feeling you'll have in 2013! Start the year out right!
The Jiggle Butt 2012 was my first ever run. I am 45 years old and was overweight. My daughter encourged me to try it and I thought I was gonna die, but she stayed with me and brought me in! I just finished my first half marathron in 3.09 ! The Jiggle Butt and my daughter got me there!!!
Jiggle Butt is a race I never miss. I love the atmosphere and it is always well organized. If you are just gettting started or an avid runner you will enjoy this course. Come on out and show us your jiggle!
